Non-cyclic photophosphorylation occurs in membrane or lamellae of grana, while cyclic photophosphorylation occurs in stroma lamellae as it lacks PS II as well as NADP reductase enzyme. The membrane system of chloroplast, i.e., grana traps light energy to form ATP and NADPH so, this is the site of light reaction, while the stroma dependent on the products of light reaction or do not utilise directly light so reactions occur in this region are called dark reaction.
